Let's Make a Deal: A Look at Music2Deal.com

Tanis Macala A few months back I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with some of the most brightest and brilliant minds in the music & entertainment industry at Canadian Music Week (bare with me as there's been a bit of a backlog and I'm still waiting on several of the videos to be edited and posted).
Among one of the most enlightening chats was the one I was priviledged to have with Mumbai's Sudhir Shreedharan, the Managing Director for Music2Deal (Asia Pacific).
Why was it so enlightening? Well, aside from an informative chat with one of those people everyone wants to know...my knowledge of the industry and culture in India was previously rather limited (admittedly, it still is), so it was both challenging and a great learning opportunity for me. Having said that, I consider myself quite receptive, and it is with that notion that I can say that I learn something new everyday.
In a time where sustainability for any music company is a struggle in the industry - keeping up with the rapid evolution of music distribution is an ever-growing challenge - Music2Deal has done nothing but expand and bring industry professionals together world wide. Not only that, they just revamped their entire website platform - and I must say, it's pretty sexy.
What is it, exactly? Simply put, Music2Deal is a community, marketplace, and a social media platform where industry professionals can connect, collaborate, and create partnerships. Who uses it? Well, judging by their growth - just about everyone. Everybody from music publishers, bands, advertising agencies to gaming companies, record companies, and everything in between - it's pretty much the one-stop-shop for the industry professional. What's more - with HQ in Germany, and offices in Mumbai - they also operate in 30 countries, and growing.
I'm not going to go into the specifics about Music2Deal, because you can check them out right here. However, you'll probably hear me talk about them more in detail at some point in the future.
I generally don't hijack my own blog to push anyone or anything - but rather to inform and share my own (sometimes blunt) opinions. However, great companies, and the creative minds behind them deserve recognition in my books.
With that being said - congratulations Music2Deal on the launch of your shiny new website!
And as a side note, if you're heading to Popkomm 2010 (you know - that wicked 3 day conference in Berlin, deemed the gateway to the music business!), keep an eye out for the fine folks from Music2Deal.
Ciao for now!
